Note: If you put your mouse over any of the small images in this website (other than the ClustrMaps image at the right), a larger one will pop up for your viewing pleasure and convenience.

Please excuse us while we get this website under way. Feel free to contact us and suggest what you would like to see here. We're flexible and can expand to fit demand.

We think we now have the website layout we want. Bear with us as we start to fill it in. Your suggestions are most welcome!

This website is about innovation in infrastructure. It is a bit philosophical as well. We look at the origins of the built environment and how infrastructure integrates with it.

That will lead us to the humanity of infrastructure. As its name says, this website is devoted to innovation in infrastructure. However, it is a website with a bit of a difference in that it is concerned not only with technology but also with the humanity behind infrastructure.

Rather than run with the crowd, we want to explore infrastructure without reference to the oil industry and its accompanying politics.

We would hazard a guess that most innovators dream up their inventions because they see a better way of doing things. After that they may think of all the money they might make, but money is seldom the prime driver of invention.

VALIDATION

This website won't validate (as most websites won't!) but this is mostly because we use the span tag so we can have popups using only CSS. The website works in the latest versions of all five of the major browsers.

We would be more than happy to feature other folks' ideas. You may have some experiences or thoughts on getting ideas to physical models. If you are an innovator, you will almost certainly have something to say (or scream and shout!) about getting money to make your ideas happen. (We certainly do!)

AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME!

This new venture will be a breath of fresh air to many innovators.

Occasionally we will want to put some explanation with a word or phrase, a little like the old footnotes. For this we use a popup box with the explanation.

The word will have a grey background. If you hover your mouse over it, the explanation will pop up. Sometimes there will be links you can click on. Try it on this: Credits CREDITS

The people behind this website have a couple of inventions that will help in that direction but we are not going to restrict discussion only to our own stuff.

We will try to drive the discussion down to first principles. And we think it is possible to build and operate a livable infrastructure powered without fossil fuels.

Interested?

We want this website to become a global forum of ideas, concepts and reflections from people who think about infrastructure. This will, of course, include developers, engineers and planners, but it will also include people whose lives are affected by infrastructure.
